Back to School

CampaignEmailPush

Back-to-school isn't a fun shopping moment—it's a season-long run of big, non-negotiable expenses. This early-season campaign added just enough cheek to take the edge off, while keeping the voice where it counts: empowering, and firmly on the shopper's side.

The Brief

One long season, three early shoppers.

Back-to-school spend doesn't land on a single day, and it isn't exactly joyful—it's a big, recurring bill that stretches across weeks. This campaign focused on the early part of the season, before the last-minute scramble, across three very different shoppers: college students setting up a first dorm, parents working down a K–12 list, and anyone paying in-store with the Affirm Card.

The tone had to thread a needle: name that this is a lot, add enough cheek to lighten it, and still land as empowering rather than stressed. One voice, three lists—no version sounding like a different campaign.

My personal fav

Wait, they need laptops now?

This push headline breaks one of our in-house rules—avoid questions in copy. I broke it on purpose. It's the exact half-panicked thought a parent has mid-scroll, and a little cheek goes a long way. The real point: any rule can be broken, if you know what you're doing.
